Being in the dermatology rounds these days, I’ve been studying dermatology topics. While I was researching necrotizing fasciitis, a rare life-threatening skin disease, I came across Vance “Bo” Salisbury’s website: Overcoming Necrotizing Fasciitis, where he tells about his deadly experience with the disease that fortunately ended cured.

There’s a post-op gallery (content may be disturbing) showing how the skin was totally sloughed off the body to remove the infection, being very deep. It will give you an idea about how deadly this disease is.

Necrotizing fasciitis usually follows a trauma that gets an infection into the deep layers of skin. It carries 73% mortality risk. It’s good to hear that Mr Salisbury has survived.
